Naomi D’Souza created an Instagram reel, revealing the one of the most delicious spots in Dubai, Milk. They have unbelievable hot chocolates, that have a toasted marshmallow on top. The result… A smores! Milk is self-described as, “The shop interior serves as an urban & comfortable space aiming and focusing on bringing people together for their daily “Fika”, where they enjoy some lovingly prepared sweets as well as a freshly brewed cup of specialty coffee.”
But what is Fika? Swedish Food shares, “Fika is often translated as “a coffee and cake break”, which is kind of correct, but really it is much more than that. Fika is a concept, a state of mind, an attitude and an important part of Swedish culture. Many Swedes consider that it is almost essential to make time for fika every day. It means making time for friends and colleagues to share a cup of coffee (or tea) and a little something to eat. Fika cannot be experienced at your desk by yourself. That would just be taking coffee and cake. Fika is a ritual. Even the mighty Volvo plant stops for fika. All Swedes consider it important to make time to stop and socialize: to take a pause. It refreshes the brain and strengthens relationships. And it makes good business sense: firms have better teams and are more productive where fika is institutionalized.”
Milk offers plenty of luxurious cakes and delicious pastries, and unique beverages and foods. About their desserts, Milk shares, “The dessert & bread use the best quality ingredients we could get our hands on. Whether it is fresh milled French flours, French and Belgian highest quality chocolates, Persian saffron or pure Sicilian pistachio paste. We have put each ingredient to its best use to bring out the finest flavors. All our bakes and fillings are freshly made & baked by hand daily using raw ingredients only.”
About their coffees, Milk shares, “The coffee bar serves specialty coffee beans that are imported from The Barn Berlin & Drop Coffee Stockholm both award wining roasteries known for their distinguished flavors and relations with sustainable coffee growers. The bar also serves brewed specialty teas & single origin hot chocolates.” But, did they expect to be an Instagram phenomenon? Reaching such a status is the by product of the twenty-first century.
D’Souza shared on Instagram,
“Hot cocoa, but with a facelift 🤤😍☕️ perfect weather for this honestly 😽 // @milkbar.ae (AED30).”
