Pinterest adds more language options to support foreign-speaking users from minority groups

Afrikaans, Croatian and Bulgarian are the language options Pinterest made available for minority language groups.

Pinterest Language Options

Having different language options available in social apps bridges communities, keeps traditions alive, and acts as the main soul of cultures, especially when it comes to words or visual references that can’t be translated by minority groups.

Pinterest’s visually dominated platform has announced the next step in its international expansion, with the platform adding on to its language options to support users for Afrikaans, Croatian, and Bulgarian language Pins.

Adding lesser-spoken global languages, enables millions of foreign-speaking users to utilize the app to its fullest potential, create more in-depth visual pins, and broaden Pinterest’s global accessibility within the app.

“Every month more than 400 million people come to Pinterest to find the inspiration they need to create the life they love1. With millions of Pins in Afrikaans, Croatian and Bulgarian already on the platform, it is now easier than ever for Pinners to discover fresh ideas and get inspired for their life’s projects in their preferred language.”

The addition of minority language options opens up a range of growth opportunities for visual expansion within Pinterest

Pinterest initially had a boom in its growth when the app was made available for users, influencers, and visual inspiration seekers utilising the platform to curate their other social pages or “visual work”. The platform’s growth, however, had become stagnant as there was not much variation that it offered to its users versus Instagram and TikTok which simultaneously drastically pushed visual inspirational content creators in its suggested feed for users.

The new language options will open up a range of new opportunities, growing the accessibility in more regions, which could help Pinterest maintain the steadying growth momentum that the company has seen throughout this year after a major revamp and push even via shopping activations.

Since the introduction of foreign language options on Pinterest, the app is currently available in 41 languages on all software and platforms.

Ranked as the number one platform for inspiration, Pinterest is the platform planting the initial seed of inspiration and fostering communities to grow by enabling them to go from the spark of inspiration all the way to producing creative content.

More than 390 billion Pins have been saved to over 8.5 billion boards globally, including ideas around home décor, recipe ideas, travel inspiration, and shoppable product Pins personalised to the unique taste of our Pinners. We’re continuously building inclusive experiences that empower everyone around the world to fully embrace their life goals, big or small, which is why we’re introducing these new languages on Pinterest.
