Dubai: Things to do this weekend

Figure out what exciting things to see in Dubai this weekend

Dubai is a city that never sleeps, and there’s always something to do, no matter what your interests are. This weekend is no exception, with a wide range of activities to choose from.

Experience Matilda at the Dubai Opera

Dubai Opera is proud to host the Royal Shakespeare Company’s award-winning production of Matilda The Musical for the first time in the UAE. Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved novel, Matilda narrates the story of a young girl who discovers a remarkable gift that can change her destiny. Featuring a script by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, this musical has garnered 99 international awards and 24 Best Musical accolades since its inception. Don’t miss out because the last show is on Sunday, October 12th.

Candlelight Concerts with a Coldplay Twist

If you’re a Coldplay enthusiast, don’t miss the opportunity to experience pianist Aldo Dotto’s rendition of their iconic hits by the enchanting glow of candlelight. This special edition of Candlelight Concerts will take place at the Alliance Française center in Oud Metha on Saturday evening, featuring three performances at 5 pm, 7:30 pm, and 9:30 pm. Expect to be mesmerized by classics like “Clocks,” “Fix You,” “The Scientist,” and “Yellow” as hundreds of LED candles illuminate the room, creating a magical ambiance.

Explore the Reopened Dubai Safari Park

After a summer hiatus, Dubai Safari Park is reopening for the season, offering a chance to journey through various habitats and encounter its majestic lions, elephants, and gorillas. Visitors can also attend informative live talks throughout the day, covering topics ranging from climate change to the life cycle of the park’s animals. Whether you opt for a walking ticket or a safari train ticket, a memorable wildlife adventure awaits, with night passes coming soon.

Soul Beach Festival

Soul Beach Dubai’s Seaside Groove beach festival is offering free entry on Saturday, October 7, from noon to 9pm. Arrive early to enjoy the sun, sand, and beats from local DJs Aleph Kaf, Tarek B, MadNad, and Moyo. This is a great opportunity to experience Soul Beach Dubai’s stunning beachfront oasis without breaking the bank. The festival will also feature food and beverage vendors, so you can refuel and recharge while you dance the day away.

Enjoy Aquaventure After Dark

This after-hours event is open to anyone over the age of 16 and features live music, entertainment, lighting, and special food offerings. In addition to access to all the park’s attractions, there will be performances from DJ Keza, Mr Shef Codes, and DJ Bliss. Open from October 7th from 7pm-midnight.

Go to MOTIONGATE’S Fright Night

It’s officially spooky season at MOTIONGATE theme park, and if you’ve been too busy the past few days to attend, the experience is available from Wednesday to Sunday at 4pm onwards. You can expect a scary-themed experience. There are five scary rooms to explore with live actors, spooky parades and character meet-and-greets happening from now until Halloween.
