Instagram went through a major upgrade to create a better experience for its users. Until recently, those searching for a certain topic on Instagram are constrained to names, usernames, hashtags, and locations.
However, now users can type specific search terms, then proceed as Instagram will show you all posts related to those terms.
This enables a smooth experience for users seeking an array of content. Which also further enables businesses and brands to reach out to their users more prominently without being limited.
Despite this new addition, it still stagnantly limits searches to topics and keywords to only those of general interest. A spokesperson revealed that the factors included in ranking keyword results are:
“Type of content, captions, when it was posted,” and more to surface relevant results. It also uses machine learning to “find the highest quality content that’s relevant to you.”
However, these results could vary based on the algorithm of each user. Therefore it is worth exploring and testing new strategies to find out what suits better while posting to stand out.
