Learn what it means to be Instagram verified, and how you may be eligible for the “blue tick.”

How to get Instagram verified

Instagram is an app like many who continue to develop their safety measures in order for everyone to feel protected when using the platform. This is one of the factors towards the verification act that Instagram created in order to know which accounts are authentic and notable.

In order to recognise whether or not you may be eligible for becoming verified, you must ensure you meet the following criteria below as listed by Instagram themselves.

1. Your account must represent a real person, registered business or entity
2. Your account must be the unique presence of the person or business it represents. Notable entities (for example pets or publications) are also eligible
3. Only one account per person or business may be verified, with exceptions for language-specific accounts
4. You account must be public and have a bio, profile photo and at least one post
5. Your account must represent a well-known, highly searched-for person, brand or entity

Paid and promotional content will not be considered for your application. The process however, has been made simple which includes confirming your authenticity, confirming your notability, and finally submitting links such as articles, social media accounts and anything proof to show your account is in the public eye. Adding links are optional, and after this, you can submit your form.

By gaining the verification badge, this does not mean that Instagram is ranking you higher than others or favoured by the system. The badge allows your followers to know which profile is your main account with any others being fake profiles. If you meet the above requirements and are ready to fill out the simple form, then you may soon have the verification “blue tick” badge.
