LATEST: All Instagram video uploads will now be Reels 2022

What are these new video changes?

Today Meta has announced that all video uploads shared on Instagram will automatically be a part of Reels and be shown in the Reels feed.

Reel’s Video Changes

Many speculate this change is very similar to that of TikTok’s format and that Meta is looking to replicate this formula, however still standing with out the addictive algorithm of TikTok.

The stream will be able to allow videos that are up to 15 minutes in Reels form, possibly changing the way the feature entirely works at the moment. Many wonder what this change could mean for the future of video content and creators on the app.

As the changes take place, creators are advised to watch their insight counts on different types of content posted to see how this may effect engagement for the better or worse, ultimately leaning toward what benefits.

Along with the change in timing format, Instagram is striving to add more TikTok-like features including remixing photos into a video as well as ‘dueting’ or as Instagram is calling it, ‘adding your clip’ to other reels.

Although this may be a blatant copy of TikTok in order to stay a premier social media networking app and get back to setting app trends, Instagram believes that users will benefit from these new features in long run.

Since reels offer a more immersive and entertaining way to watch and create videos on Instagram, we’re bringing the full-screen experience to your video posts, too. In the coming weeks, new video posts shorter than 15 minutes will be shared as reels. Videos posted prior to this change will remain as videos and won’t become reels.
