If there’s one thing TikTok is known for, it’s the platform’s ability to make a song go viral. With music being an essential part of its creator’s posts, TikTok is giving undiscovered artists the opportunity to gain more exposure through a new complete platform for music marketing and distribution called SoundOn.
With this new feature, any musician will be able to upload and license their tracks which will be available for use on the app and Resso, its partner music streaming platform. This update will surely be remunerative for these artists and TikTok’s team further explains how:
The platform allows artists to upload their music directly to TikTok and begin earning royalties, when that music is used. SoundOn pays out 100% royalties to music creators in the first year and 90% after that, and provides a range of promotional tools and support.
Performers will also gain access to expert advice from a SoundOn artist team in addition to the platform’s song tab that permits songs to be linked to profile pages. But that’s not all, this innovative program will also make it possible for them to distribute their music to other music platforms, offering them the opportunity to grow and build their audience across social media.
Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music at TikTok, shares her opinion on the matter:
New artists and musical creators are a vibrant community within TikTok and SoundOn is designed to support them as they take the first steps in their career. Our SoundOn teams will guide creators on their journey to the big stage and bring the expertise and power of TikTok to life for the artist. We’re incredibly excited about how this will surface and propel new talent and how SoundOn will contribute to an increasingly diverse and growing global music industry.
All in all, if you’re a singer or musician looking for a breakthrough, TikTok will increase your chances at making it big!
