As Meta seeks to draw in more and more users everyday, the social media giant is constantly developing new features to keep them active on the platform for as long as possible. The new creative tools that have been added to the Spark AR Studio, which include audio tools, effects blending, improved depth mapping and more, can be seen as a perfect example of Meta’s efforts to maintain user engagement.
To begin, audio options will see the addition of a ‘new audio engine’ that aims to enhance audio processing and facilitate the process which creators have to go through to blend different audio sources together to create a single effect, thus improving the interest rate in the Reels trend. On Meta’s website, one can find the following statement:
Now you can more easily add voice effects, sound effects and music tracks together to create engaging and entertaining dance or singing effects for Reels.
Music and tracks are now key elements in content creation on social media, as they are contributing to videos going viral, which is especially true in the case of TikTok. Also, audio tools are a great way for the platform to foster engagement and creativity while arousing users’ interest.
But that’s not all; Meta has also launched new depth controls which are powered by LiDAR sensors to boost users’ capacity to create responsive effects. According to Spark AR studio:
This capability allows you to detect the relative distance of surfaces and objects from the camera, and extract this data as a texture. You can then use the data contained with this texture to create a variety of effects that respond to depth, such as post-processing and lighting effects.
Creators will also be pleased to find out that Meta is also introducing a new occlusion feature that will allow them to seamlessly blend virtual objects into real-world spaces. With the incorporation of cutting-edge technology, Meta is on its way to revolutionizing the digital space and attracting more audiences to its platform while also increasing its chances of competing with TikTok and Snapchat, which have a long history of success when it comes to interaction and filters.
