Movies

Head to Head

In this comedy thriller, a lovesick chauffeur and a bootleg mechanic mistakenly pick up a retired crime lord, igniting a wild, life-changing adventure. Available to stream on Netflix now. Starring Abdulaziz Alshehri and Adel Radwan.

Heart of Stone

Starring Gal Gadot, this spy action thriller coming August 11, centers on Rachel Stone, an intelligence operative who is tasked with the mission of protecting ‘The Heart’, and ensuring it does not fall into enemy hands. The film also stars Jamie Dornan and Indian actress Alia Bhatt.

Choose Love

If you’re more in the mood for a romantic comedy, Netflix has you covered. Coming August 31st, Choose Love centers on Cami Conway, who seems to have the perfect life with her perfect boyfriend Paul Swartz. Except, she has a sense something is amiss: is she missing out on her dream of becoming a singer? Does she really love Paul, or is there someone else out there for her?

There’s one twist, though: this is Netflix’s first-ever interactive romance film. In this choose-your-own-adventure, the viewer will navigate through Cami’s romances and ultimately choose her love.

10 Days of a Bad Man

In this Turkish drama, a battered, broken, and bereaved private investigator must muscle his way through a tangle of lies to uncover the truth behind a mansion murder. Staring Nejat İşler and Rıza Kocaoğlu, this film is available to stream on August 18th.

Documentaries

Untold: Volume 3

Starting on August 1, the highly praised documentary series Untold will be presenting new stories every week as part of its third edition. Each story revolves around the personal experiences of those who have lived them. By sharing honest and intimate first-person narratives, Netflix reveals the determination, resilience, heartache, triumphs, and even moments of humor that exist beyond the surface of sports events from boxing to football.

Depp v. Heard

Showing both testimonies side-by-side for the first time, this series explores the trial that set Hollywood ablaze and the online fallout that ensued. Available to stream on Netflix on August 16.

At Home with the Furys: With Tyson Fury. 

This series follows heavyweight champion Tyson Fury as he exits the ring and tries to embrace retirement with his family including his wife Paris, father John, and his six children. Available for streaming on August 16.

Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop

This limited docu-series recontextualizes the role the irrepressible women of hip-hop have played throughout the revolutionary genre’s 50 years by reinserting them into the canon where they belong: at the center, from day one to the present day. Starring Queen Latifah, this show will be available to stream on August 9th.

Television

The Last Hours of Mario Biondo

This true-crime series uncovers new details about the last night of Mario Biondo, the husband of Spanish TV host Raquel Sánchez Silva. This is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys true crime series.

Who is Erin Carter?

A British expat’s tranquil life in Barcelona spirals out of control when an armed robbery at a supermarket exposes her secret and her violent past. Available to stream on August 24.

Zombieverse

In Seoul, where a zombie virus outbreak has run amok, who will outwit the undead in the face of challenging quests and come out alive? Starring Lee Si-young and Ro Hong-chul, this Korean reality series is available to watch on August 8.
