TikTok’s ‘Creativity Program’
The ‘Creativity Program’ was initially released by TikTok in May 2023. It is “designed to help creators foster their creativity, generate higher revenue potential, and unlock more exciting, real-world opportunities,” according to the application.
The Creativity Program is TikTok’s latest addition to its range of monetization tools that have the ability to support creators of all levels in being rewarded. It was rolled out to American users in May, but TikTok has since expanded, choosing now to roll out the program to users in Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, and the U.K.
According to the short-form video-sharing application, “This program offers higher cash incentives with earnings based on qualified views, giving you the potential to earn 20 times the amount previously offered by the Creator Fund.”
In order to qualify for the Creator Program, creators need to have at least 10,000 followers on the application and need to generate 100,000 video views in the preceding 30 days. Participants must also be at least 18 years old and have accounts that are in “good standing,” according to TikTok’s website. Direct content monetization is difficult on the application, which is why the application has gone other ways to monetize and benefit creators, such as through live-stream donations and in-app shopping.
Since the program’s release in the United States, several content creators have made a lot of money. According to Business Insider, couple Influencers Kay and Tay Dudley, who have 5 million followers on the social networking application, saw thousands of dollars in monetization from TikTok’s new Creativity Program Beta in early July. Other content creators say they no longer need to rely as heavily on brand deals as they did before.
In order to get more monetary incentives, some creators have moved to YouTube to create long-form and short-form content with Shorts and get paid by the YouTube Partner Program instead.
However, a lot more users are now set to qualify for entry due to TikTok’s expansion and rise in incentives. The program is still in its early stages, which means more updates are bound to come, including expanding the program to users from other regions as well.
