Earth Day is an annual global event that happens every 22nd of April and started in 1970. The purpose behind it is to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the Earth’s natural resources for a better future. Many people use social media as a way of raising this awareness, giving tips to others on what they can do for the day, as well as connecting with others through the mutual interest of saving the planet.
For all causes, there is normally a theme that is created, and for world Earth Day 2022, the theme is Invest in Our Planet. The goal of the campaign is to focus on five key programs and they are, The Great Global Clean-up, Sustainable Fashion, Climate, and Environmental Literacy, Canopy Project, Food and Environment, and finally, the Global Earth Challenge.
We have created a list of influencers you can check for inspiration on what to post this Earth Day or where you can find out more information on the cause – why it’s important.
- Jessica Clifton has over 100k followers on her Instagram page and posts all things sustainable, natural, and authentic. Her recent post was dedicated to Earth Day as she asks the question “what makes you feel most connected to nature?”
- Rob Greenfield is an activist dedicated to sustainable living, educating and inspiring everyone on how to be a positive change in the world. In his recent Instagram post, the storytelling advocate posted a beautiful and personal message about his connection to Earth. In the caption, a line that reflects this beauty is ‘The Earth is ready to embrace us all and share her healing energy.‘
- Amanda Rushforth is not only glowing through pregnancy at the moment but also shares the importance of sustainable fashion on the ocean. The Earth and ocean are connected with one another and create our planet, therefore learning about how what you choose in the store affects our marine life and environment, expands our knowledge on many important issues that need to be raised not only on Earth Day but every day.
We hope you can take some inspiration from these amazing influencers who are trying to create a positive change in the world day by day. Be creative with your posts, and connect with your audience with something that is related to your niche and Earth Day. If you’re a foodie, then create a Reel of plant-based dishes, if you’re into fashion, tell us some stores to get sustainable clothing from, if you’re a beauty influencer, then educate us on how to re-use or recycle your beauty products.
Make sure to tag us in your posts this Earth Day so we can re-post your content.
