What is YouTube Create?
YouTube Create is an editing app made for mobile creators to easily edit and add effects to Shorts. The new app could encourage more people to make short-form videos which were inspired by TikTok.
Part of the reason why TikTok exploded in popularity was due to the ease with which users can make and edit TikTok videos, in comparison to long-form videos. In order to support creators, TikTok released the separate, and now very popular, CapCut application. It is now the go-to editing app for mobile creators making TikToks, Reels, or Shorts.
The app’s decision to launch its own video editing app means they are following in TikTok’s footsteps.

The social media platform accounted Create at its recent event. The company also revealed some new AI-powered features, including a “Dream Screen” tool to make AI-generated backgrounds for Shorts and AI-powered suggested video topics.
According to a blog post from the company, “The app offers video editing tools including precision editing and trimming, automatic captioning, voiceover capabilities and access to a library of filters, effects, transitions and royalty-free music with beat matching technology so that creators can produce their next video without relying on complex editing software.”
The Verge reported that spokesperson Kimberly Taylor states that the app will be free to download and available in beta on Android in the US, the UK, Germany, France, Indonesia, India, Korea, and Singapore. The app will be available to iOS users next year.
