In Microsoft’s latest Q3 performance update, LinkedIn is reported to have reached a staggering revenue of $3.44 billion.
With over 810 million users worldwide, over the last eight quarters, the app has seen ‘record levels’ of engagement growth.
What does this mean for users? Well, since the Pandemic, LinkedIn has provided various opportunities for maximum career acceleration through a variety of new tools.
During this time, focus was given to creators through building on existing Creator Mode tools, as well as new profile video options, refined content analytics and a new subscriber bell.
This is a fantastic way for content creators and marketers to assess in-depth what is well received from their audience.
Introduced in March 2021, all LinkedIn members who meet the following criteria can use the Creator mode:
- A following of more than 150 people and/or connections on the app
- Adhering to community guidelines and policies
- A recent share of content on the app
Explained by LinkedIn themselves on their new improvements, “From total impression numbers, to engagement statistics, creators can see what’s working and where they may want to change their content strategy.”
Another exciting feature is the new stats via the Creator Mode! What exactly does this do?
The statistics are very similar to what can be viewed on your Instagram post analytics, users of the app are able to view detailed figures on re-shares & impressions per post.
This is ideal for those making and sharing content through LinkedIn – whether it be in the form of text, images or video.
To create a personal feel to your LinkedIn page, as a creator you can now replace your profile image with a video! This will have a blue ring around it to signify that it is a video and users may now follow profiles directly from the video, thanks to new analytics that show the number of views.
Prompts are offered to help LinkedIn members get started with their videos and it’s important to note that this feature is only available through mobile devices.
There is no doubt that we have witnessed LinkedIn grow from strength to strength, as it has shifted into becoming an essential platform for career advancement, connectivity and unique content.
In a simple initiative curated by the app, the ‘Creator Pathfinder’ tool is a wonderful way to improve your skills and capabilities.
This feature allows you to become accredited by LinkedIn via developing skills and is something we highly recommend to all users of the app.
It is an effective way to stand out to recruiters to ensure the skills you list on your LinkedIn profile match the requirements of the roles you’re interested in applying for on the app!
Although initially LinkedIn may not be an obvious choice for content creators and marketers, the numbers really do speak for themselves about the apps continued revenue and engagement growth.
With Microsoft merging other Office products such as Outlook, PowerPoint and most recently Teams into their LinkedIn data, we can expect to see other integrations that can provide a fantastic user experience and benefit professional development.
Our Top Tips to Attracting More Followers to Your Profile
#1: Optimize your profile
It is crucial to ensure your profile on LinkedIn is complete, as it is noted by LinkedIn’s Marketing blog ‘Pages with complete information get 30% more views’. Filling out the relevant information and using a professional profile photograph (or video) is key!
#2: Post content regularly
Unlike any other social media platform, the most effective way to steadily improve growth organically is to post regularly and improve your visibility on the app to users. LinkedIn states that ‘pages that post at least weekly see a 2x lift in engagement, which in turn leads to greater organic reach’.
#3: Co-create content
In the field of influencer marketing, co-creating content with another creative is highly advocated. This provides a reciprocal relationship where both creators will benefit through gaining recognition via each other’s brand audience.
#4: Encourage engagement
Consider ways in which you can start a conversation with your followers. Responding mindfully to comments on your post, starting a discussion over a trending hashtag all help to elevate your profile and reach a wider audience.
#5: Share visually appealing content
As videos have taken popular demand on most social media platforms, it is important to make sure that you mix up the content you share and produce. Share a snap of your latest product or give a glimpse into a recent event your hosted.
There is no doubt that LinkedIn provides professionals with unparalleled career opportunities that allow you to establish yourself as a credible member. The company are strong supporters of creators and are continually developing new features for users to utilize in order to amplify their voice and widen their reach.
It is evident that with these notable changes, LinkedIn is shaping itself to shy away from a place to solely build professional connections but has transformed into another platform to showcase your content and reap the rewords.
If you’re looking to expand your brand, try out the Creator Mode (you can always switch this off at anytime) and record your profile analytics for a few months to really see the difference!
