In May 2022, 26-year-old Hannah Williams put in her notice for her Data Analyst job after realising she had a huge opportunity to expand and work on her TikTok content monetisation.
Williams first began her TikTok channel by posting about her experiences job-hopping and negotiating salaries. After just a few months of posting regularly and getting unexpected engagement and growth, Hannah soon realised the potential of growing her account following.
Data Analyst or TikToker?
Hannah and her husband built a plan together to see if being a full-time TikToker would be worth quitting a job for. Whether or not it was going to work, in May 2022, Hannah packed in her job before her husband Daniel followed and both concentrated on building the series Salary Transparent Sheet.
How much are the couple making?
Since concentrating on the platform, both husband and wife have landed huge six-figure brand deals in just eight months making $600,000 (according to CNBC). Williams said “I knew that you don’t just have an account that is that successful that quickly, without it being monetizable in some way. I was ready to figure it out.”
Because of the success of the TikTok channel, Hannah and Daniel have secured $24,000 (Dhs 88,027.52), in seed money for the first two months of the series from two agents. In September 2022, Hannah then secured a six-month deal with Indeed which is a job search app for approximately $0.5 million.
What is Salary Transparent Street?
Hannah and Daniels’s series Salary Transparent Street is simply about asking random strangers how much they earn. There have been many successful TikTok channels that do the same, with some asking luxury car owners what they do for a living, and knocking on people’s luxury homes and asking them what they do for a living.
This type of content is captivating for many reasons as you want to see the stranger’s reaction, as well as see what response they will give. It’s interesting to know what life is like on the other side which is why this content gets the views.
