The tech leader is known for his curious, observant, and intuitive personality, but is also known for expressing his unbiased thoughts and opinions about social media overconsumption and mental health, even after constant criticism on social media about the subject.
“Social Media isn’t for mindless scrolling and consuming content, it is to engage and build relationships,” says Mark in a Joe Rogan podcast. He also talked about how these platforms aren’t addictive if you use them wisely and how he distracted himself from unnecessary scrolling and pulled himself out of the pandemic anxiety by doing something productive like martial arts training.
When did Jiu-Jitsu start for Mark?
In a podcast episode on Joe Rogan Experience, the tech billionaire said, “If you’re just sitting there and consuming stuff, I mean, it’s not necessarily bad, but it generally isn’t associated with all the positive benefits you get from being actively engaged or building relationships.”
He believes in having a new skill on your bucket list over some leisure and constantly keeps challenging himself for something new and adventurous. The pandemic had hit everyone differently and with so much depression and anxiety all over the place, it was difficult to find something productive.
That’s when he took up Martial arts and started practicing his moves. A year-old training has bagged him some medals, and netizens are bowled over his approach towards life and skills applauding him over the social media platforms.

In Mark Zuckerberg’s Words
In terms of health & fitness, Mark Zuckerberg’s thoughts are extreme. He keeps saying, “It’s good to go for a run or do workouts in the gym, or get involved in any cardio or weight-lifting exercises. But when doing so if you still can’t block your work thoughts and drive that work pressure out of your mind, you are not helping yourself to become mentally healthy.”
Mark also keeps mentioning that engaging in combative skills gets him going, it helps him gain a boost in his energy, and blocks work thoughts, eventually making him more focused at work.
Mark thanked his trainers to train him over the period of one year and also mentioned the Guerilla Jiu-Jitsu team in his Instagram post.
An Inspiring Takeaway
