2010 was a decade that saw a rise in the social media industry. The usage of social media platform increased thanks to Gen Z and Millenials
Mark Zuckerberg is surely very pleased to have played a big role as Facebook managed to own multiple apps including, WhatsApp and Instagram along with Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
A new report analytics firm App Annie revealed the top 10 most downloaded mobile apps of the decade, within the list the four most downloaded apps across Android and iOS in the 2010s were Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram all owned by Facebook.
The list had ten apps which we are pretty sure most of us use, here is the list that the firm revealed:
1. Facebook
2. Facebook Messenger
3. WhatsApp
4. Instagram
5. Snapchat
6. Skype
7. TikTok
8. UC Browser
9. YouTube
10. Twitter
One thing is for sure, Facebook dominated this decade, its flagship app and Messenger spin-off both have users in billions, along with Instagram and WhatsApp being a part of everyone’s social media routine.
As Social Media Today put it “…Facebook has built a digital empire, and become a critical component in the day-to-day interactions of many, many users.”
The list underlines the ever-growing story sharing app Snapchat along with TikTok formally known as musically. These apps have also seen a rise and have been giving tough competition to Facebook owned apps.
We might see apps like TikTok or Snapchat beat Facebook to be on top considering how well they have been doing in the recent years.
It surely is great to see the significance of Facebook’s dominance, in spite of many platforms joining the game and holding up strong!
We can wait to see what the next decade has in store for us.
