Facebook Is Removing Verification for Business Pages

Big changes in store for businesses on Facebook.

The social media platform recently announced it will be making changes to business accounts regarding verification statuses and Facebook Page Insights.

According to Marketing Land, as of October 30 Facebook will be removing all grey verification badges from business accounts to avoid user confusion.

While blue verification badges authenticate high-profile people or media corporations, grey verification badges are only used to make a business page official.

Any business page on Facebook can get a grey verification badge by going through the basic identification process, which could cause confusion for users and encourage imposters to exploit the feature.

Apparently, according to Social Media Today, user feedback is one of the main reasons the social networking giant has decided to delete this feature.

Business pages will soon be getting a notification on Facebook that the feature will be removed on Oct 30, as well as a reminder to keep their profile up-to-date with a correct profile picture and contact details.

Between Oct 17-28, the platform will also be making some changes relating to calculating organic page impressions.

The application will soon filter repeat organic page impressions to align more with ad display reach. Time frames will be updated to filter out organic page impressions from the same user which in return may decrease the number of organic impressions per post.

“We are unable to provide any estimates for how this update may affect your Page, if at all,” Facebook said in a statement. “Fluctuations in impressions for Facebook Pages and posts continue to be normal, as impression counts can be influences by many factors over time.”
