Why do we take so many selfies? Well because photographs are the best way to preserve a moment and keep the memories alive. Photos are an invaluable method for honoring and remembering the past as well as sharing the ‘feeling’ of a moment.
As for UAE, rain is a rare sight and there are countless photographers who captured the moments last week. They have taken the field of photography to an exciting new level and we’re taking a dive in to see the best of the best.
The photographers from the UAE community used Instagram to share the latest updates on rain across the emirates, with photographer Kieran Walsh captioning his post saying that this was “probably the most colourful dramatic sunset I have ever seen in UAE.” Another photographer captured an image he “waited for 7 long years” (some patience).

Finally, a long awaited shot! By long, I mean 7 years long. Truly a dream come true moment, a moment lasting a few milliseconds but captured for a lifetime. It was just as though God had planned this moment, the lightning hitting the iconic Burj Khalifa to kick start my 2020. Why this is so special one may ask. It’s just one of those compositions that was sculpted in my head 7 years ago, and ever since, I have always been coming to the same spot, waiting for hours, staying overnight in heavy rains, hoping to capture the moment. And this time too, I decided to try my luck, went back to the same spot, set up my camera, hoping to finally capture, and yet deep inside preparing myself for another disappointment. But this time, Within 2 minutes of setting up my camera, there it came, the bolt from the blue. This one shot enough to wrap my day up, however, I continued to stay till 6am in the morning. Got a few more shots, but the first one would always be special. Feeling Inspired?
Pick up you cameras or smartphones capture the moments and upload them on Instagram (try to capture the next time it rains), you might just get featured next time it rains.
