Simulcast Your IG Live onto Facebook with Instagram's Newest Option

Instagram is testing out a new option that would enable users to simulcast their Instagram Live streams over on to their Facebook Page, which means users will be broadcasting to their audiences on both platforms at the exact same time, according to Alessandro Paluzzi.

The Story settings menu on Instagram, as shown in the screenshot above, is where users can go to simulcast their live streams. When the setting menu is checked, according to Social Media Today, this would give users the option to let their Instagram Live streams appear on their Facebook page as well.

This new option could increase a user’s live stream reach as well as make it an appealing option for Instagram users. As of now, users have the option to save their IG Live streams onto their camera rolls after their stream has ended, which they can re-post onto other platforms, according to Social Media Today.

Instagram Live stream can also be viewed on desktop PCS, thus making these existing options a possibility for users to facilitate engagement while the newest option would maximize engagement and the user’s efforts.

As live video chats and live-streams are the closest thing people have to real-life social interactions amidst the COVID-19 lockdowns, streaming websites and tools have seen an increase in usage in the last month especially Zoom, Houseparty and even Facebook’s video calling tools, according to Social Media Today.

Instagram is planning additional features and updates aimed at helping users maximize Instagram Live

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri said, “There will also be new tools for artists to recieve and collect donations during their streams asa way to replace real-world gigs.”

This newest update is currently in testing and is part of Instagram’s expanded efforts, and it might not be the only update users will be getting regarding the Instagram streaming options, according to Social Media Today.
