The actor and mega influencer Priyanka Chopra spoke at the United Nations General Assembly this Monday, addressing many issues of concern. Priyanka, a representative of UNICEF, talked about the need for the world to unite in global solidarity to improve the lives and conditions of the people around the world.
The actor went on to talk about the UN Sustainable Development Goals as one of the ways to overcome the problems faced by the world. Taking to Instagram, the star posted videos and pictures from the event along with a lengthy caption describing the essence of the assembly and her address.
Priyanka says as a part of the speech: “We meet today at a critical point at our world, at a time when global solidarity is more important as countries continue to struggle from the devastating effects of the COVID-19, as the climate crisis affects lives, as conflicts rage; as poverty, displacement, hunger and inequalities destroy the very foundation of a just world that we fought for, for such a long time. And as we all know, all is not well with our world, but these crises did not happen by chance. But they can be fixed with a plan. We have that plan. The UN Sustainable Development Goals, a to-do list for the world,”
The star shared pictures with other speakers at the United Nations General Assembly, including Malala Yousafza and Amanda Gorman. The General Assembly in New York saw many influential personalities like Somaya Faruqi and Judith Hill.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas and UNICEF
Priyanka Chopra has been a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2016. However, her relationship with UNICEF began before that, as she was the National Ambassador of UNICEF India. She has contributed to the community through her efforts with UNICEF and The Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education.
The mega influencer talked about EXPO 2020 and the message of sustainability that was presented at the Al Wasl Dome by its team. She emphasised how Sustainable development Goals are now crucial to achieve.
