American singer, beauty entrepreneur, and global personality Selena Gomez is the first woman online to hit over 400 million followers on her Instagram. Selena celebrated her followers count by posting a carousel of images with her fans commenting I wish I could hug all 400 million of you.
What’s the situation with Jennar, Beiber & Gomez?
There have been many videos circling the internet over the past few weeks regarding Kylie Jenner, Hailey Beiber, Kendal Jenner, and Selena Gomez. Many people feel defensive over Selena Gomez after stating that she was being bullied by Kylie and her best friend Hailey causing a bitter online feud between the celebrities and their fans/followers.
Selena posted a video of her eyebrows saying they had accidentally gone wrong and a few hours later, Kylie posted a similar video tagging Hailey in the post. Thousands, if not millions, picked up on the similarities of the video which sparked outrage on the internet. Kylie did try to defuse the posts online by commenting on one TikTok video, and she did receive a comment back from Selena herself saying there was no hate and only love between the girls.
However, this wasn’t enough for the followers and now there have been videos from the past that are being shared of Hailey, comparing hers and Selena’s romantic relationship with Justin Beibers. Kylie Jenner has also been receiving hateful comments and called a “bully,” whilst people are wondering why Hailey is friends with Kendall after there were allegations of her and Justin getting together briefly. Kylie’s followers are also assuming she is buying followers to catch-up to Selena.
How did Selena Gomez grow her following?
As a result of the online feud, the word has spread that “Kylie Jenner and Hailey Beiber are bullying Selena” and therefore why they need to all unfollow Jenner and Beiber, and begin to follow Gomez. Whether this is a temporary follow or a true fan of Selena, only time will tell but Selena still celebrated her Instagram following by uploading a heartfelt post.
The trend to unfollow the dynamic duo and follow Selena whizzed over social media and now Gomez is up to 401 million followers, shooting past Kylie who now respectfully has 382 million, Hailey who has 49.3 million, and even past Queen B Beyonce who has 301 million.
What happens next?
Like every online feud or trend, one dies down for the next and therefore we can expect to see the lesser conversations about the Jenner, Beiber, and Gomez situation. As a married couple, Hailey and Justin are already finding the pressures of being husband and wife as are all newlyweds, adjusting to their new routine along with the pressures of the world.
Although social media can be a wonderful place for influencers and celebrities to grow their self-image and work with brands, and other influencers, and connect with the world, there is also a volatile side to it too. Be careful which trends you decide to follow and the effects it has on others.
