Instagram

Instagram recently uploaded its latest news update, expanding the ability for creators, businesses, and everyone else to share digital collectibles they created or that they own.

Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram also shared the news with his 1.6 million followers, writing in his caption, ‘Starting today, we’re expanding access to digital collectibles in 100 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas. I’m excited to see more NFTs on Instagram like this one, by this amazing creator Alejandro Ruiz (@bits.and.atoms) from Mexico. Alejandro uses processing as part of his process, which I remember experimenting with when it first came out when I was in college. It’s amazing to see an artist use it to create art all these years later.’

Instagram says it’s been ‘so inspired by the creators’ and therefore why the platform has decided to expand on this feature. An aerial and street photographer Natalie Amrossi drove awareness by using the feature to showcase her work saying “NFTs have opened doors to new opportunities for me and other artists around the world. This new technology provides us with another outlet to make a living and to connect with our fans and collectors. Instagram has helped build careers for so many creatives including myself, and now our communities can support us further by sharing our work on the platform.’

Both Instagram and Adam also shared how they are starting with international expansion to 100 countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and the Americas.

How it works

To get involved in the new feature and post a digital collectible, all you need to do is connect your digital wallet to the Instagram platform. Instagram supports connections with third-party wallets including Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, and Dapper Wallet.
