Meta has taken things up a knotch with their Avatar features.

If you’ve ever felt like your very own digital version of yourself was missing a Balenciaga hoodie, look no further!

Meta’s avatar clothing store will offer a variety of avatar clothing and accessories, including collections from Balenciaga, Prada, and designer Thom Browne.

CEO, Mark Zuckerberg recently made the announcement during an Instagram Live with Instagram’s vice president of fashion partnerships, Eva Chen.

This new fashion store is set to be accessible across all platforms that are part of the company – including Facebook, Instagram and Messenger.

What does Meta want to do with this in future?

However, in the long run, Meta will allow digital creators to launch their own avatar fashion items, which they will then be able to sell in store and monetize from.

Meta is also focusing on developing more realistic avatars and new methods for creating more true-to-life avatar characters for the VR space.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg issued a statement saying that these more realistic representations will indeed serve a distinct purpose in digital engagement, with your 3D animated avatar for day-to-day interaction on a personal level.

Where as, the more realistic depicted would be for professional meet ups within the digital world.

During his official statement, Zuckerberg went on to say:

“Digital goods will be an important way to express yourself in the metaverse and a big driver of the creative economy. I’m excited to add more brands and bring this to VR soon too.”

Luxury retail desingers are collaborating with technology firms to develop branded digital apparels.

Fortnite introduced Balenciaga skins last year, allowing players to buy branded hoodies for their gaming characters.

Players in Roblox can visit Gucci Town, which includes a garden with the brand’s logo and a virtual store.

Meta’s Avatar Store will be available starting next week in the United States, Canada, Thailand, and Mexico.
