3 features Instagram needs to roll out ASAP

We have some ideas for Instagram that might make them the most loveable app!

Features Instagram should have and need to have ASAP

Social media platforms regularly update their features in order for the end user to enjoy the full experience and get the most from the app. Have you ever used a platform so much that you begin to think of ideas of how it could be made better?

Instagram Filters

When we talk about Instagram filters, we’re not talking about changing the colour of your photo or video, but time and date filters. At the moment, Instagram has a grid layout of posts including carrousels, images, and Reels, and introduced pinning 3 posts to the top of a user’s profile page. With so much content on one page, wouldn’t it be great if you could go through past posts by selecting the time/year of posts, date, or ascending to descending and vice versa?

What would this mean for brands?

Brands that would like to work with influencers would have the chance of filtering through posts for research and data. This would make the process easier – similar to Facebook with the ability to filter through posts depending on time, date, and more. Companies, brands, and influencer marketing agencies would be able to see everything the influencer has posted rather than scrolling down to the beginning.

This is the same for aspiring influencers or fans and followers of an influencer/celebrity. If you want to see their journey of becoming an influencer for some inspiration, it’s frustrating to have to scroll down for ages to find what you’re looking for.

The benefits of having a filter for influencers and content creators include being able to show off their content and look through their own posts to be able to organise it.

Re-Ordering Posts

Content creators and influencers spend a lot of time creating and producing posts, and these get lost and crowded in all of the daily posts they upload. It would be easier and quicker for them to be able to search through their own content in case a brand asks for analysis on a particular post from a few months, or when cleaning up their own content.

Re-ordering or re-organising posts would also be good so you have the freedom to create your own timeline. Rather than uploading a post that is stuck at the bottom of your page, you should have the ability to re-order it wherever you like.

Changing Carrousel Order

Another feature that would prove to be useful (but not as much of a priority as the others), is re-ordering carrousel posts. Do you ever look back at carrousel posts and think, why did I use this as my front cover post? or I wish I could delete this on my carrousel and add another image? If it’s not something you have thought about but now thinking of the idea of changing your posts, it sounds good doesn’t it? Especially if you want it to match the rest of your feed.

There has been no conversation that any of these ideas will come to fruition, but we can only hope and wonder when and if they will be executed!
