At the start of this year, more and more accounts on Instagram have been getting hacked through new various tactics that hackers use.
Instagram has been fairly good at returning an account to it’s rightful owner, but it’s never fun to be the one person who doesn’t get their account back! Here are 3 ways you can ensure that your Instagram account will not get hacked.
Two-Factor Authentication
This allows you to confirm your identity in two ways in order to enter your account. This could be phone and email or other less common combinations.
To activate this feature, simply go to settings, security and activate your two-factor by following the instructions on Instagram.
This is the easiest and most likely really effective way to steer clear of hackers on Instagram and never have to lose your data or your account.
No Hacked Links on DMS
This one may be obvious, but many fall victim to clicking links in their DMs. However, hackers have gotten better at using this trick.
Once one has hacked a close friend of yours, they may observes that you are close friends and message you for a ‘favor’ to click on a link so you are subsequently hacked as well.
No matter what the link is or who it is coming from, it’s best to avoid clicking any links you are sent. If a close friend it sending a link, ask them to send it on Snapchat or iMessage just to be sure of the situation.
Notch Insurance
Notch Insurance is a new Instagram influencer insurance brand that is for content creators who make income off of Instagram.
Notch looks after influencers who no longer have access to their accounts and is the first ever Instagram insurance company that the public has heard of.
Though this may not be necessary for general users, influencer’s who’s accounts hold sensitive information for businesses or are a main source of income, a gamble with Notch may be worth it.
