Whether you’re trying to diversify your feed or you’re simply out of post ideas, reposting content on Instagram can be a great way to maintain a regular posting schedule and promote user-generated content on your page. We also can’t forget the benefit it offers for brands who wish to communicate with their customers and for influencers who want to engage with their community and celebrate their followers’ achievements and ideas.
Now while other platforms such as Twitter provide users with a Retweet button, Instagram doesn’t but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn the different ways to bring others’ content into your feed without downloading repost apps, so let’s jump straight into it!
Repost manually with a screenshot
Your phone model’s resolution plays a great role when it comes to the quality of your reposted content; for those with an older model, you can expect it to look a little blurry but others shouldn’t face any issues.
If you end up choosing this method, you will need to:
- Open the post
- Take a screenshot of it
- Crop the screenshot down to the photo, leaving all the surrounding details out of it
- Create a new Instagram post with the cropped photo
Also, it goes without saying that you will need to give credit to the original creator and ask for permission to repost.
Repost from Instagram Story to feed
Let’s say your story received plenty of positive feedback and engagement as soon as you posted and it would be a shame for it to disappear after 24 hours; then why not share it as a normal post on your feed where it can stay as long as you want it to?
To do that, you should:
- Open the Instagram Story (a current or an archived one) that you want to post
- Select “Share as Post…”
- On the new page, add your caption and hashtags then publish it
Repost from Instagram feed to Instagram Story
Going the other way around and sharing a regular post to Instagram story can draw more attention to your latest posts (especially with today’s challenging algorithm) while also giving you the ability to raise awareness about someone else’s content.
To repost using this method, you should:
- Select the post you wish to share.
- Click on the share icon on the bottom right of your screen
- Tap ‘Add post to story’
- Add your own elements to the Story before tapping on ‘Your Story’ to post it.
Having said that, you will only be able to share someone else’s post if their account is public .
Repost from Story to Story
There are many reasons as to why you would want to repost a story on your own; it could either be that you wish others to see the good or funny content that you just witnessed or that you were tagged in it. For option number one, you can ask the creator to take a screenshot or record it before posting it on your story while for option number two you could do the following:
- Open your DMs (When another user mentions you, the Story appears there)
- Click on the ‘Add this to Your Story’ text that shows up for Stories that can be shared
- Resize the Story and post it
