Elon Musks' latest Twitter statement

Twitter’s CEO Elon Musk is no stranger to the platform, and regularly voices his opinions on current affairs, social media matters, and rumours inside of the Twitter HQ. There has been controversy over Musk’s leadership skills having recently been in the press for letting go or “firing” many staff members, cutting the workforce down immensely. As well as changes internally, Elon Musk and his team have slowly been working on small changes to make a better Twitter environment for its users.

One thing he noticed was the type of audience who are on Twitter or should be on Twitter. He said in a Tweet this month, ‘The ability of Twitter advertising to reach the most influential people in the world is often not fully appreciated. While a few other social networks are technically bigger, Twitter is where the writers & leaders spend their time.’

The statement he made sparked the interest of Twitter users with many in agreement.

While others had different opinions and challenged Elon Musks’ thoughts and ideas including sharing opinions on the future of Twitter’s audience.

Analysing Current Trends

Musk in some form isn’t wrong in the statement that he made. However, it is not just “writers & leaders” who use Twitter. Based on current trends, Twitter is likely to continue to attract a diverse user base and that includes:

  1. Younger generations: Twitter has historically been popular among younger demographics, and it is likely to continue to attract a significant portion of Gen Z and Millennials in 2023.
  2. Professionals: Twitter is also used by many professionals, including journalists, politicians, and businesspeople, to share news and connect with others in their fields.
  3. Influencers: Twitter is a popular platform for influencers and content creators to share their thoughts, opinions, and content with their followers.
  4. Activists: Twitter has long been a platform for social and political activism, and it is likely to continue to attract individuals and groups who want to raise awareness about important issues.
  5. Sports fans: Twitter is a popular platform for sports fans to connect with each other and stay up-to-date on the latest news and events in their favorite sports.

Overall, Twitter is likely to continue to attract a diverse audience of individuals and groups who are interested in connecting with others, sharing information, and staying up-to-date on the latest news and trends.
