Dolly Parton collaborates with Taco Bell to promote their Mexican pizza on TikTok

You can now say that influencer marketing has reached an all time high.

We know; you’ve probably read the title and you’re still trying to find a link between Dolly Parton and Taco Bell. Let’s just say that influencer marketing has struck again and managed to get a country music icon like Dolly Parton to announce the return of their Mexican pizza which will premiere later this month.

However, if you know Dolly Parton, then you know that the collaboration will be everything but ordinary. In fact, the singer took it to Instagram to share the news and reveal that she is actually working on a musical (yes, a musical!) for the campaign.

By looking closely at the screenplay that is apparent in the post, our guess is that the musical will be “based on the true story of the Internet losing its mind”, most probably referencing the phenomena that was born after Taco Bell cancelled the dish from its menu in late 2020.

NBC News further explained the concept by stating:

It is inspired by TikTok star Victor Kunda’s viral video in March parodying what a dress rehearsal of the musical would look like, based on singer Doja Cat’s catchy jingle shared on the social media app that same month.

What we also know is that the satirical musical is written by Hannah Friedman, will feature music by Grammy award-winning songwriting duo Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, and will be released at 8 p.m. ET on May 26.

The American actress has always expressed her love for Taco Bell and was even of the customers who were demanding the fast-food chain to bring back their beloved Mexican pizza. Thus, it wouldn’t be difficult to understand why Parton is the perfect candidate to carry on with this campaign; she’s already a fan of the brand which will add to the authenticity of the marketing efforts and there’s no denying that she has a large audience which will allow Taco Bell to reach a huge number of people.

Also, by choosing a musical to make such an announcement, on a trending platform such as TikTok leads us to think that the brand’s marketing team surely knows what it’s doing. Nowadays, everyone is on TikTok looking for fresh, fun content that will keep them entertained and Taco Bell took the opportunity to hit two birds with one stone by creating content that is expected to go viral but also deliver the message loud and clear: the Mexican pizza is back!
