Instagram will soon allow users to have the choice of using the read recipients feature in direct messages.

Details of new IG update
This means that even if you have read someone’s message, they won’t see the ‘seen’ label which is found below the message.
As frustrating as that might be for some, Mark Zuckerberg and Adam Mosseri have announced on their Instagram Broadcast channels that the change is just being tested at the moment.
Comments from Mosseri
Mosseri said “We heard your feedback and have started testing a new feature that lets you turn read receipts off in your DMs. Soon, people will be able to choose when to let others see when they’ve read their messages.”
What about Messenger?
However, what was not mentioned in the announcement was whether the new feature would also be replicated on Messanger. If the feature is successful on Instagram, then there may be potential changes to the other apps.
