Every once in a while, social media platforms such as Instagram or LinkedIn add new features or switch up their algorithms, causing a frenzy in the online world. While some of these changes turn out to be groundbreaking, others make us wonder why they were even allowed in the first place; however, if we were to talk about LinkedIn‘s new features, we’d say that they are definitely worth the hype.
One of the new features that’s got everyone talking is real-time captions for LinkedIn audio events.
To better explain the motive behind this addition, LinkedIn’s Chief Product Officer, Tomer Cohen wrote:
We just launched real-time captions to the LinkedIn audio events experience, and it is a big deal. Up until now, when members joined an audio event on LinkedIn, they could only listen to it. While it might sound straightforward, it isn’t. By adding real-time captions, we are making audio events more accessible and inclusive for members with hearing impairments.
While Cohen announces that these captions aim to make users with hearing impairments feel included, it is also worth mentioning that this new feature will also facilitate conversation between LinkedIn users and the person holding a live audio event, who will be able to engage with their audience and answer their questions or concerns. But how can you turn on this feature? First, click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the Audio Event then tap on Turn on captions (Beta) and voila!
With the release of real-time captions, audio meet-ups are likely to become even more popular on the professional network, as more and more people are referring to the platform’s experts for advice on career and professional development.
Speaking of, the team behind the platform is aware of the importance of these events; the network is doing its users a favor by launching a four-week interactive series of real-time conversations that will cover everything career-related.
That’s not all, LinkedIn has also made changes to make it easier for users to find and re-discover posts that they’ve already seen on their feed; what they can now do is search for the creator’s name and the keywords that are related to the post. We don’t know about you but this is good news to us since this means that you can finally relocate the witty post that you forgot to save a few days ago.
Service providers are also getting their share of good news seeing that LinkedIn also improved its Services listings, allowing them to share better reviews with their community and displaying them in-steam for profile visitors to see.
With direct customer feedback being highlighted, these providers are motivated to double their efforts on the app, where they can now attract even more business leads.
While all of these small twists don’t seem like game changers at first, we can definitely see them improving users’ experience and their image on the platform.
