Twitter rolls out NEW ‘unmention’ feature that could be game-changing!

How to remove your name from the wrong places with ‘unmention’.

In the past, being tagged on Twitter involved your name and account in a discussion that you maybe did not want to be a part of. Twitter recognized this today and created the new unmention feature.

You are now able to remove your involvement from conversations that you no longer feel comfortable in or as Twitter put it:

Unmentions Giving Back User Control

The main point of this feature is for user to have control over where their account is involved and when to limit that involvement.

Twitter is famous for being an overwhelming environment, especially when attention is brought to your account all at once or in a negative light. Twitter’s new feature allows the user to battle ‘pile ons’ and leave conversations that have gotten out of your control.

This feature is essentially similar to the ‘untag’ feature of Instagram, but this is more interesting, and possibly more useful, as Twitter has the ability to bring a great amount of attention to one person, some may call it a manifesting ground for cyberbullying.

The unmention feature is a great way of combatting that issue and may improve the overall in-app experience for users all over the world.
