Have you decided to change your lifestyle this year as one of your New Year’s Resolutions? Does it include attempting Veganuary this 2023? Why not! It’s something different, that helps the planet and might change your life, for the better!
What is Veganuary?
The term Veganuary was coined in 2014 and was made to promote veganism by encouraging people to consume a vegan lifestyle for the month of January. Although it started in 2014, since then, it has rapidly grown with 580,000 people from 209 countries taking part worldwide in 2021.
To be vegan is to abstain from eating or using any part of an animal product in your diet. Those who follow the vegan lifestyle eat mostly plant-based food without having hurt any living creature.
With Veganuary being in full swing, we have put together a few influencers who live by Veganism that you can take some tips on if you’re needing some mid-month motivation!

Having started her vegan journey in 2012, Betty began teaching yoga and adapting/researching a vegan lifestyle into her routine. Now, her goal is to inspire others by teaching others about her “non-violent” lifestyle toward animals, plants, and yourself.
@plantbasedbre
Breanna on her Instagram bio, says she is a Plant-based Foodie (not vegan). In one post, Breanna told her followers more about who she is and what she does. She wrote:
🌱 My name is Breanna but most people call me Bre! I’m 28 originally from Baltimore/DMV but now living in the NYC area.
🌱 I’m really into astrology – Aquarius sun, Scorpio moon, and Cancer rising. No fire placements in my big 8.
🌱 Everything here is dairy free. I stopped eating red meat and pork in 2010, stopped eating all other poultry/meat in 2013, I eat fish and eggs intuitively without shame.
🌱 I identify as plant-based, not vegan or plant-based vegan, so please refrain from making judgemental comments about what I eat on my feed. I do not condone shame around food/food choices.
🌱 I am not a full-time blogger. This is a passion project💗 I am currently a PhD student in Sociology studying the construction of race/ethnicity, anti-blackness, racial identity, migration, and ethnoracial health disparities.
🌱 I’m really into cooking food that makes you feel good and I come from a strong lineage of Black women who cook their asses off.
🌱 I barely measure things while cooking, and really encourage everyone to taste their way around the kitchen. Cooking isn’t as rigid as most people make it seem.
What better way to explain herself than plantbasedbre!
