Simon Porte Jacquemus and long-time partner Marco Maestri officially tied the knot this past weekend in a scenic fairytale wedding every girl can only dream of having. The couple announced their engagement in June of last year on Instagram, posting a series of images with a short and sweet caption that read; “I said yes!”.
Fast forward one year, the couple had a private and very secluded ceremony, so much so, that the news broke via images taken by passers-by pedestrians rather than official news publications. Images of the star-studded guest list started circling the internet upon their arrival, as famous celebrities, artists, and influencers started flocking the streets.
Only days later, images of the grooms and what took place started to surface and we can 100% confirm it would’ve been better for everyone if it stayed private, as it definitely sets the standards very high for couples wanting to have the dream fairytale wedding.
So what’s the Jacquemus fairytale style…
Renowned for paying homage and continuous inspiration to his southern French roots of Provence, it seemed only fitting for Jacquemus to have his wedding close to home. The private ceremony was held in the local town hall of Charleval, a village in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, and kicked off with the handsome couple arriving in vintage butterscotch-colored convertibles. Greeted by a starry guest list of attendees such as Dua Lipa, Jeanne Damas, Amina Muaddi, and Tina Kunakey. As fans went crazy and clustered behind metal railings and packed onto overseeing balconies, you could swear it was the parade of the season.
They say it brings bad luck for a guest to wear white to a wedding, but this is not just any other type of ordinary wedding, in fact, most of the attendees paid tribute to the designer’s latest SS23 collection by wearing custom runway pieces unavailable to the public. Now that’s some great brand marketing!
The reception was beautifully backdropped by a movie-like sunset and giant film which narrated the couple’s love story while exchanging vows right before they stood on top of their own cake. Even better and in a typical Jacquemus fashion, Simon himself was the first on the dancefloor to have his iconic bridal moment by appearing in a wedding gown to close the night which became an instant cultural meme on Instagram.
