Live-streaming has been widly popular amid the COVID-19 lockdowns as people are looking to replace the social interaction they’ve lost by turning to the real-time engagement of streaming, according to Social Media Today.

Zoom is a video chat application that has seen an increase in usage, as well as Houseparty which is a multi-participant video chatting application that has been on the rise amidst this pandemic.

This need for video conferecing has been recognized by social media platform Instagram, as the platform has been fast-tracking the release of its co-watching feature. This feature enables Instagram users to share their saved, liked and suggested photos or videos in the application with six people at a time via its video chat, according to Social Media Today.

Now, Instagram is looking to make a move in one way or another to cater to the increase of usage regarding this aspect. For in a recent Q and A through the use of Instagram Stories, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has mentioned that Instagram is considering the option of adding more people within the capacity to go live on IG Live, according to Social Media Today.

“Right now you can only go live with one other person at a time, we're looking into if we could expand that, but it's not clear that that is the most pressing thing that we can add to Live, versus just getting stability up, adding more features, making it available on web, etcetera,” according to Mosseri.

Instagram is looking to add possible features to IG Live and Stories, the biggest thing to note is that Mosseri mentioned that Instagram Live might be available on Instagram web. Which, according to Social Media Today, would prove popular to Instagram users.
