Famous singer, Britney Spears has finally said “I do” to her long-term boyfriend Sam Asghari.
Taking place in an intimate wedding of close friends in Los Angeles, the two, who have been together since 2016, finally had the chance to seal their love after years of not being able to due to Britney’s Conservatorship.
The Hit Me Baby One More Time superstar, who is now 40, spent the last 13 years in a tightly controlled conservatorship, imposed by Spears’ father, Jamie.
This legal battle resulted in Britney losing the rights to her personal life, financial decisions and body, forced to live under the thumb of her toxic father for over a decade.
After a long-winded battle and thanks to the impact of social media and the #FreeBritney movement, the singer was finally set free last year and has began living her life authentically again.
Britney Spears & Sam Asghari’s journey
Spears and Asghari first became romantically involved in 2016 after meeting on the set of the singer’s “Slumber Party” music video. Britney said in a radio interview in 2017, that it took them nearly “five months” to get in touch again after her video shoot.
It has been reported that the singer’s older brother, Bryan Spears, was expected to attend. However, news that her parents Jamie and Lynne Spears, as well as sister Jamie Lynn Spears, were not invited to the wedding was circulating across social media this week.
In September 2021, Britney announced to her Instagram that she and Iranian-born Sam Asghari were engaged. Following the termination of the conservatorship, the couple released news in April that they were expecting their first child together.
Which Britney sadly revealed that she miscarried last month.
Asghari told GQ in an interview:
“One beautiful thing that I heard was when the baby’s ready, it’ll come. When the baby’s ready it’ll be the right time.”
The couple seemed to to be getting into the loving spirit ahead of their wedding, sharing a video of themselves on Wednesday while being driven around in a Rolls-Royce and drinking champagne.
