Dame Vivienne Westwood a key icon in the punk movement passed away on 29th December. She was a rebel, an activist, and a fashion icon that incorporated punk aspects into the mainstream. The Vivienne Westwood fashion house’s social media had posted of her passing without stating a cause and rather they stated that she passed peacefully.

The brand’s Twitter released a statement saying “Vivienne continued to do the things she loved, up until the last moment, designing, working on her art, writing her book, and changing the world for the better”.
Dame Westwood had a legacy of embracing diversity and being outspoken in matters of climate change. She was a fashion maverick who was honored several times by Queen Elizabeth II. Moreover, the fact that she was a self-taught designer was inspiring to many. Her designs were often shocking and thought-provoking but that never stopped her. Eventually, her punk fashion designs ventured into haute couture and mainstream.
