“I have been moving on”
Sofia Vergara has spoken openly about her divorce from Joe Manganiello and the consequences of her split in public.
In an interview with CBS News on January 14, the Modern Family star described how she has managed to focus on her own well-being despite the continual attention around her previous relationship. “I have been moving on. You’re out there, and people understand that’s part of being a star. I knew it would happen. “You can’t hide those things,” she admitted.
Nonetheless, Sofia Vergara has been pleasantly surprised by the compassion of the press as she enters a new chapter in her life.
“It was not bad. I think, you know, the press was quite courteous and nice,” she said. “And I assumed they’d come up with new inventions, as is customary. I was astonished, and they just said what it was.
At least Sofia’s Happy
Fans were surprised to learn that the actor would be splitting from the Magic Mike star in July 2023. They initially met in 2014 at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. At the time, Vergara was engaged to Nick Loeb. Nonetheless, a few weeks after meeting Manganiello, the A-lister called off her engagement.
Manganiello ultimately got a date with Sofia Vergara in June 2014 after requesting her phone information from mutual friend Jesse Tyler Ferguson. It only took the couple two months to make their relationship debut.
“You know, I’m just having a good time; it’s a special period in my life, and I’m trying not to worry about it too much. “It’s new, so we’ll see what happens,” Sofia Vergara told Extra at the time. From then, the Hollywood pair pushed full speed ahead, moving in together in November 2014. They got engaged in December of that year.
Tragic End?
Manganiello previously told Haute Living, “Our first date was in June, and then I proposed to her on Christmas Eve; we dated for about six months.” We knew immediately away – like, pretty quickly.
“We had this large bay window [that I opened], and the sun was setting pink over the mountains and the bay, and I had this ring. “I had looked at every ring in the world,” he explained. “This is the ring I desired. I had an entire speech prepared in Spanish. I proposed to her on one knee in Spanish as the sun went down. “It was awesome.”
The former couple married in November 2015, seven years before they divorced.
When the news of their breakup surfaced in July, the pair released a joint statement. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives,” they were quoted as saying. Manganiello filed for divorce two days later, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
