Amber Heard fires PR team over ‘bad headlines’ prior to taking the stand

Heard has fired her PR team due to the onslaught of negative backlash online during $50m defamation trial with ex-husband.

Just days before she is due to testify against her ex-husband Johnny Depp, it was reported on May 1st that actress Amber Heard has dropped her Public Relations team, Precision Strategies.

Heard, 36, had initially hired the team ahead of the highly-publicized trial case, in order to prepare for the defamation charges posed by Depp.

In a statement written to The Washington Post in 2018, she referred to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse” and has since recalled multiple occasions where the 58-year old actor had ‘physically assaulted’ her resulting in ‘black eyes, a broken nose and cuts to her face and neck’ to which Depp has responded; stating that said allegations are fabricated and not an accurate reflection of the nature of the relationship.

According to Depp’s account of their relationship, Heard would often instigate fights using demeaning language and would “strike out” at him. As he recounted an altercation between himself and Ms. Heard during a trip to Australia in 2015, as he filmed the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean, he gave gruesome details of how she severed his finger with a vodka bottle. “I looked down and realized that the tip of my finger had been severed and I was looking directly at my bones sticking out.”

Evidence presented by attorneys for Depp regarding this incident were shown, along with multiple audio clips recorded during their fights, that have been played in the Virginia courtroom to the jury, where Heard says “I was hitting you, it was not punching you” and later goes on to degrade the actor calling him a baby in reference to the attack.

Since emerging online, fans across the world have been glued to their screens to keep up with the latest findings of the case. Amber has been allegedly increasingly frustrated at the magnitude of negative backlash she has been facing on social media and by various news outlets producing ‘negative headlines’.

Subsequent to going to trial since April of 2022, the public opinion has largely favored Depp, with many supporting the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. The Hashtag #JusticeForJohnnyDepp began trending on Twitter worldwide, as the details of his traumatic testimony emerged.

Consequently, on platforms such as TikTok, viewers of the trial at home are sharing their opinions on Amber Heard and her “heinous” abuse towards the actor throughout their tumultuous relationship. Many have labelled her as ‘Amber Turd’ after evidence was presented to the court that she had defecated in his bed following his attempt to leave her.

Others used TikTok to poke fun at the actress’ facial expressions in court, which come across highly exaggerated and ‘fake’. One video almost accumulated almost 700K views and has since become a circulating meme.

Moreover, a great number of viewers have also witnessed Heard wearing similar outfits to members of the trial. Clinical and Forensic Psychologist, Dr. Shannon Curry was called to take the stand by Depp’s legal team and has diagnosed Heard with two personality disorders, including Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Dr. Curry went on to further point out that symptoms of the disorders include ‘taking on the personality’ of loved ones and ‘dressing like them’ in an attempt to mirror their behaviors as those who suffer with BPD often combat issues with self-identity.

This statement was given just days after Heard was accused online of copying outfits of her ex-husband in the courtroom.

On April 11th, Depp was seen wearing a Gucci tie, which had a bumblebee on it. Just two days after, Heard was sported a very similar tie that also had a bee on it.

Furthermore, on April 18th, Depp showed up to court with his hair pulled back into a ponytail.

The next day, on April 19th, Heard appeared in court with her hair styled in almost an identical way, even sporting very similar glasses to Depp and people were quick to catch on to the unusual behaviour concluding that it was not simply a ‘coincidence’.

Many took to Twitter to express their views on the ‘look-a-like’ mirroring carried out by Heard, with one calling her ‘sick in the head’ for ‘mimicking’ his outfits.

Another wrote: ‘’Amber Heard is playing mind games with Johnny Depp by copying his outfits in court’.

In an attempt to try to salvage her public image, which has already been established as a highly negative narrative, Amber has now hired Shane Communications to assist with managing her perception in court to the public during the ongoing trial.

This week in Court, it is the first time that Heard will be taking the stand to tell her side of the story and viewers can stream this live on Youtube via Law&Crime network.
