How Can a Lip Balm Replace Lip Filler?

An NYC board-certified dermatologist who trained at Harvard and Duke universities recommends the finest lip balms for plump lips at home.

“How do you keep your lips from deflating as you age?” Let’s talk about it,” The Dermatologist, Dr. Charles Puza tells his 1.7 million fans in his hot TikTok video, which has received 168,000 views since it was posted last week.

Puza suggests using lip balm with hyaluronic acid and peptides three times a day to achieve fuller lips without using filler.

He likes Clinique Moisture Surge Hydro-Plump Lip Treatment ($21 for 0.34 fluid ounces), SkinCeuticals Antioxidant Lip Repair ($46 for 0.34 fluid ounces), and Paula’s Choice Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Lip Booster ($24.75 for 0.33 fluid ounces).

“The secret is, if you are consistent and use them at least three times a day for four weeks, you’ll have significant improvement in lip volume and lip hydration,” Puza explained. “At least three times a day you should be putting a moisturizing lip balm on your lips.”

Difference In Formulas According To the Dermatologist

Peptides are amino acids — the building blocks of proteins — which can stimulate the production of collagen to increase skin elasticity.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring chemical in the body that has been demonstrated to keep skin moisturized, softer, and smoother. Lip fillers are made of synthetic hyaluronic acid.

The global lip fillers market was valued at over $1.3 billion in 2022, and it is expected to grow to $1.63 billion by 2028.

Despite its popularity, some people do not believe lip filler is the best option.

Is It Time To Dissolve Those Lips?

Kylie Jenner, 26, stated in 2018 that she had lip fillers removed, and others have followed suit.

Millions of TikTok users have watched videos with the hashtags #lipdissolving, #lipfillerdissolved, and #lipfillerdissolving.

“This is not a lip filler hatred post,” Puza stated on TikTok. “I love doing lip filler. It’s one of my favorite procedures because if you do it right, it looks natural and no one is gonna know.”

Try This if You’re Not Ready To Commit!

If you’re not ready to commit to lip fillers, Puza recommends trying his favorite lip balms first.

He also recommends using an SPF-containing balm when out in the sun.

His suggestion comes after a board-certified dermatologist told The Post that lip balms containing menthol, peppermint, castor oil, beeswax, and some perfumes that might irritate the lips should be avoided in favor of Vaseline or Aquaphor.
