THREE WAYS YOU CAN PRODUCTIVELY USE SOCIAL MEDIA WHILE IN QUARANTINE

Undoubtedly our social lives have taken a massive hit since working from home and spending our weekends at home have both become the norm during this time.

While we continue to look out for our health as well as the health of our friends and neighbours, we need not feel alone or particularly isolated since our phones, laptops and the use of social media are all integral in keeping our connections alive!

Twitter has recently strengthened its policies on the sharing of Coronavirus misinformation and similarly WhatsApp has become aware of the spread of false news through chain messages and group chats and has launched a blog to keep users updated.

Although these platforms have taken necessary measures to ensure that further pandemonium isn’t fuelled by inaccurate information, the productive use of social media is particularly important as we distance ourselves from the outside world.

SHARE YOUR SUGGESTIONS ON BOOKS, MUSIC, MOVIES ETC. WITH FRIENDS & FAMILY ONLINE

Everyone appreciates good recommendations on things to do, watch or listen to while stuck indoors.
Take to social media to get the conversation started! Along the way, you may stumble across an undiscovered favourite and motivate your friends and followers to pick up a book or start a programme which they otherwise would not have been interested in.

CONNECT WITH YOUR LOVED ONES OVERSEAS

If you live on your own and the quarantine blues have got you down, take to WhatsApp or Snapchat to connect with your loved ones on a regular basis.

Make sure to check in on them and keep yourself updated on what they’re doing to pass their time. It’s important to ask the necessary questions however be mindful of spreading fear to vulnerable family members or friends. Routinely ask about their health but keep yourself updated on the facts and refrain from spreading unsolicited medical information.
