Eminem’s latest single, “Houdini,” has shattered records, marking the most significant streaming debut of the iconic rapper’s career. Houdini debuts with 7.8 million Spotify streams – the biggest one day song streams ever made by the rapper.

Released last Friday, “Houdini” is accompanied by a music video that pays homage to Eminem’s 2002 hit “Without Me.” The video is packed with star-studded cameos, featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Pete Davidson among others, adding to the buzz and excitement surrounding the release.

“Houdini” is the lead single from the artist’s forthcoming album, “The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) setting high expectations for what’s to come. The collaboration and mutual respect between Eminem and Steve Miller highlight the single’s significance, merging past influences with contemporary artistry in a powerful and respectful nod to music history.

Steve Miller’s response

This new release samples Steve Miller Band’s 1982 hit “Abracadabra,” earning accolades from Steve Miller himself, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. Miller praised Eminem on social media, calling him a “timeless originator” and commending his ability to create something new while honoring the legacies of original artists.

In his tribute to Eminem, Steve Miller highlighted the Detroit rapper’s respect for musical history and his influencers. He wrote, “Marshall Mathers you are an exception and on my short list of people who respect the art. To be included in your process feels good while I’m still singing and playing the music I love. I’m Honored.” Miller went on to name several musical legends who have shaped his own career, including Les Paul, T-Bone Walker, Bill Doggett, Johnny Guitar Watson, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, The Beatles, Chuck Berry, Willy Dixon, Leiber & Stoller, Cannonball Adderley, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis.
