Original Fight Date
The highly anticipated boxing fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has been postponed after Tyson, 57, fell ill on a flight last weekend. Two weeks ago, Jake Paul took to his Instagram to share the scheduled date of his match against Mike Tyson. The legendary boxer and the YouTube star were initially set to clash on July 20 in Arlington, Texas.
Tyson’s Health Issue
Both Tyson and Paul announced on Friday that a new date will be revealed next week. Tyson’s health scare occurred on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles last Sunday, where he was met by first responders upon landing. His camp attributed the incident to an ulcer problem.
In statement, the fight’s promoters said: “During a follow-up consultation on Thursday with medical professionals on his recent ulcer flare-up, the recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations.”

Despite not fighting professionally since June 2005, Tyson has maintained a rigorous training regime. He showcased his fitness in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020.
Tyson remains optimistic about his condition, stating, “My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s, and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”
Jake Paul, 27, has built a notable prizefighting career by taking on mixed martial artists and journeymen boxers. He expressed his support for the postponement, emphasizing the importance of Tyson being at his best.
“I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night,” Paul said. “My fans know I don’t want to face Iron Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake: When he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.”

Tickets purchased for the original date at the Dallas Cowboys’ home stadium will still be valid for the rescheduled event, the promoters confirmed.
