Instagram has a few new measures and one of them helps users that are locked out of their own accounts. The app also has a tool to prevent impersonation on social media.
Regaining Access
There is an added recovery center feature that helps users get back into their hacked accounts. This recovery center will guide the user back through logging back into the locked accounts through support and security questions. If you follow this link or enter “Instagram.com/hacked ” it will lead you to the recovery center.
People with multiple accounts will be able to navigate which specific account needs support. There is also a friend-confirmation process that allows users to refer to their friends to confirm their identity of the user if they end up locked out.
Impersonation Prevention
In order to prevent and combat impersonation, the app is testing warnings if an account is suspected of impersonating someone. Warnings will also be sent if someone is trying to impersonate a business when trying to contact a user via DMs. Moreover, verification badges will be more visible throughout the app like in Stories, DMs, and in the Feed.
