The first stage of IGTV Monetization is officially being rolled out

But don’t quit your day job yet! It will only be available to a select number of creators…

The first stage of IGTV Monetization is officially being rolled out

Content creators have been waiting patiently for Instagram to roll out a partnership program, similar to YouTube’s partnership between the platform and creators.

That time has finally arrived.

The platform has officially confirmed it is reaching out to selected creators to invite them to participate in the initial testing of in-stream advertisements on the content of their IGTV videos, according to Social Media Today.

“Instagram started reaching out to its top video creators last Friday, asking them to partner on ad tests,” Bloomberg reports. “Those in the program will receive a 55% share of all advertising in IGTV, the same rate as YouTube, according to people familiar with the matter. The company will start testing the ads this spring.”

Instagram made the decision to add IGTV previews in the application’s main feed last February in order for creator to use this new aspect to reach the maximum capacity of the main application in order to direct users to their IGTV content stream, according to Social Media Today.

An important note to add is that the IGTV monetization tool was originally spotted last month by reverse engineer expert Jane Manchun Wong, who had posted on Twitter a series of images found below.

However, based on these images it is evident that this an eligible way for some kind of IGTV monetization but it is still unclear what kind of monetization features will be offered, according to Social Media Today.

Guess creators will need to keep their eyes on the platform and be patient for the time being.
