How to get verified on Facebook

Have you done enough to earn that blue tick on Facebook? Find out here.

Facebook

Are you ready to be verified on Facebook? Follow our short step-by-step process to differentiate your content from everyone else.

WHY GET VERIFIED?

There are many benefits of getting verified on Facebook and some of those include:

  • Improving your credibility
  • Differentiate from fake / look-a-like accounts
  • It improves your search presence

How many times have you tagged the wrong person on your post whether it be an influencer or celebrity and realise it’s not that person just because they’re not verified? Verification also allows you to find someone quickly and easily without having to scroll through fan pages or fake pages on Facebook.

GUIDELINES

Like every other social media app, Facebook has guidelines in order to get verified. You have to ensure that your profile has:

  1. Authenticity
  2. Completeness
  3. Notability
  4. Uniqueness

Getting verified isn’t easy and not everyone can do it. In order to be eligible, your account has to go through the above 4 steps. Authenticity means that your page has to represent you or your brand, and completeness means that your account or page sections should be fully completed. Notability means that you have to be in the public eye, be mentioned online, and have some form of unpaid presence elsewhere, and finally, uniqueness, your content has to be unique and credible. Posting high-quality content that is highly engaged with your audience helps.

STEP-BY-STEP

  1. Click on Request a Blue Verification Badge page
  2. Choose your verification type – page or profile
  3. Upload an official identification document
  4. Choose a category that best describes your page
  5. Select which country your page is most popular in
  6. Give details on who followers your page and why they are interested in you
  7. Add up to 5 links that show your page or profile is in the public interest (paid promotion will not be considered)
  8. Submit your form

The response to your profile could take anywhere from 48 hours to 40 days, but there is no guarantee when the reply will come.

REJECTION

If Facebook rejects your right to a blue badge, then this means there still needs to be some improvements made to your account or you still need more credibility. To re-apply, you will have to wait for up to 30 days so use the step-by-step guide above to work on your profile before you re-submit another verification request. Make sure you have done everything you can, included all the necessary factual information, and try to get more mentions, reviews, and proof from other users.

If you would like more information on why you have been rejected, you can do this by requesting more information from Facebook after you have been rejected.
