Have you ever noticed you have not seen a certain person’s posts in your Instagram feed in a while? Well, it is possible they simply haven’t posted anything in a while — or they may have blocked you. Here are 2 ways to find out if they have.
Table of Contents
Search the account on Instagram
The first way to find out if someone has blocked you on the photo-sharing social media application is by searching for the account.
Step 1: Open the Instagram application. Click on the search icon at the bottom of the screen to open the explore page.
Step 2: Start searching within the app for the account that you think has blocked you. Type the name of the account in the search bar that appears on the top.
Step 3: If the account you are searching for is private and you can’t find it, you’ve probably been blocked. If the account is public, and when visiting their page you can’t see their profile image, post count, follower count, or following count, and the photo grid area reads “No Posts Yet,” you have been blocked.
For extra precaution, you can also perform this search in a browser. Type in the link Instagram.com/username while replacing the word “username” with their Instagram handle. If the message “Sorry, this page isn’t available” shows on the screen, you have been blocked.
Additionally, sometimes people just delete their accounts. You can get the same issue if someone has deleted their account. If you want to confirm, ask a friend if they can find and see the account. If they can, and you cannot, it means you have been blocked.
Send them a message
If someone has blocked you on Instagram, you can still see the messages that you have exchanged with them. However, any new messages you send will not be delivered. So follow these steps to figure out if someone has blocked you or not.
Step 1: Open the Instagram application. Click on the messaging icon on the top right of the home feed page to open the direct messages your account has with other accounts.
Step 2: Type the name of the account in the search bar that appears on the top if their name is not one of the recent accounts you have exchanged messages with.
Step 3: Send them a message. If the message does not get delivered to them, it is likely they have blocked you on the application.
These messages will not delivered, even if they unblock you later.
Additionally, if you are in a group chat with the person, they will still be able to see anything you send in group messages — although, Instagram will give them the option to leave said group when they block you.
In the event someone has blocked you, there’s no way to undo it. These were the ways to find out if someone has blocked you on Instagram.
