On December 2nd, RM from BTS released his first solo album titled “Indigo”
RM
RM (Kim Namjoon) is a rapper, songwriter, producer, and leader of BTS. His fans know him for his poetic and witty lyrics, heartfelt speeches, clumsiness, and for teaching and translating English to the other members of BTS. He has previously released mixtapes like “mono” (2018) and “RM” (2015). He has also collaborated with international artists like Wale, HONNE, Warren G, and Fall Out Boy.
RM started out as an underground rapper at age thirteen and debuted with BTS in 2013. As a student, he loved poetry and had won awards for his writing. His love of poetry helped him in writing lyrics. His fans know that he greatly appreciates arts, nature, and culture; and he really incorporates these aspects in his music. Moreover, RM and the rest of the members of BTS are known to produce their own songs.
Indigo
The album “Indigo” features a variety of talented artists like the legendary Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak, Mahalia, Tablo from Epik High, Paul Blanco, Colde, Park Jiyoon, Youjeen, and Kim Sawol. The album is said to be a reflection of his twenties both in and out of the spotlight. The album tells RM’s personal story of youth, stardom, being a human, and being an artist. Indigo’s tracks have diversity with bits of soul, rap, pop, ballad, R&B, and city pop.
Topping The Charts
Only three days after its release the music video for one of Indigo’s tracks, Wild Flower (with Youjeen) reached 18 million views. In addition to this, less than 24 hours after the album’s release, Indigo was No. 1 on the iTunes charts in more than 87 regions including the United States, Canada, France, and Germany.
Shortly after Indigo’s release BTS’ official YouTube channel released a Magazine Film which details the process of gathering the featured artists on the album as well as the thoughts and inspirations behind each track. The video includes interviews with RM and some of the producers and artists on the album and their thoughts on the album and the very personal message it contains.
