Introducing … TikTok’s newest viral influencer, Neil the Seal

If there’s one thing you should know about the internet, it’s that it’s obsessed with showcasing the prettiest animals. Take, for example, Grumpy Cat, Doug the Pug, and Boo – it’s rather usual for online users to convert cherished pets into celebrities. However, TikTok’s latest viral sensation is considerably larger and more chaotic than a domesticated animal. Neil The Seal, a 600kg elephant seal, has won the hearts of people all around the world as he wreaks havoc in Tasmania (an island off the coast of Australia). I was fascinated as soon as I witnessed him taking over my FYP.

Neil is usually seen on beaches or in the ocean, but he will occasionally travel onto land to take three to four week naps. Neil has been seen on homes’ porches and lawns since taking over the town of Dunalley. He was even spotted napping in front of a woman’s car, obstructing her commute to work. People have been calling Neil The Seal the agent of mayhem since he became popular on TikTok, as he continues to take over Tasmania. Thousands of people have watched videos of him, and justifiably so!

Devil in Disguise

Despite his cute appearance, Neil The Seal has been causing tremendous problems for Tasmanians.

It’s been said that the local police attempted several times to get little Neil back in water – but failed to do so.

And of course, Neil even has his own social media page. Rightfully so.

Neil causing safety concerns

Because of Neil’s erratic travels, marine conservationists have geotagged him so that they can come to his aid if he puts himself in danger. However, his whereabouts is never made public, and Tasmanians are advised to keep a distance of 10 meters (33 feet) if they come across him.

He’s even mastered the worm — a feat that not even some humans, can accomplish.

Neil may be causing enormous disruptions in people’s life, but he’s been forgiven because of that adorable face. This wonderful boy deserves all the naps he can get.
