Netflix has released “Wednesday” focusing on the beloved character Wednesday Addams from the classic Addams Family series.

The Addams Family is a supernatural, dark, comedic series that was based on the work of cartoonist Charles Addams. The Addams Family has been remade and revamped plenty of times over the years spanning from the 1930s to 2022. The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993) which were some of the more popular reboots starred Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, and Christina Ricci as Morticia Addams, Gomez Addams, and Wednesday Addams respectively.
The Addams Family franchise has been an unforgettable franchise with its house of horrors setup and clear unique characters that grace our screens with spookiness. Over the years, as shown by the number of remakes it has and it’s cult following, The Addams Family has stayed relevant and prominent in pop culture.
The Addams Family has a monotonous ghoulish style that appeals to many but unlike its colorless aesthetic, there are many touching lessons to be learned from the Addams Family. Most of the more powerful and action-taking characters within The Addams Family Universe were women; like Wednesday and Morticia.
Morticia Addams is always a strong protective leader who supported her family and upheld The Addams Family values. Wednesday is a genius, who had a great sense of style, and never felt the need to fit in. These adored characters brought a lot of hope to the young women watching and spread the message that being unique and honest with yourself can never be a bad thing.

The new show “Wednesday” focuses more on Wednesday Addams and in the 2022 version she is played by Jenna Ortega. Jenna Ortega is most famous for her roles in Stuck In The Middle, The Fallout, and X among her other great works. The revamp is also directed by Tim Burton also known for his ooky and spookiness.
The show sees Wednesday go to Nevermore Academy, a school for misfits, after getting expelled from her previous school. There she attempts to figure out her own psychic abilities while also solving a mysterious case that shakes up the school. The revamp also has brilliant casting as it guest stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams and one of the original Wednesdays, Christina Ricci as Ms. Thornhill.
