Instagram Archive is a handy feature on the app that allows users to hide pictures they have posted. The posts will be hidden from followers temporarily until the user decides otherwise. While one could always delete the images they want to take off their profile, it is easier to archive the posts as it is not permanent.Â
There are many indecisive Instagram users out there that second-guess the posts they put up. The archive feature helps them feel more confident putting up content as they can always take it down. The archive feature will retain all the likes and comments on the post.
How to Archive a Post?
Archiving a post is extremely easy to do. Follow a few simple steps, and you will be able to hide that post you think is embarrassing!
-Go to the post that you want to archive.
-Click on the three dots on the upper right corner
-Select the option ‘Archive’
Your post will be archived now and can be found on the Archive section of Instagram. Wondering where that is? The archive section can be found by clicking the three lines in the upper right corner of your Profile interface!
How can you Unarchive a Post?
Looking to unarchive the post you had hidden? Don’t stress. Unarchiving a post is pretty simple. Go to the archive section of the app. Click on Posts if it was on the Stories section. Select the post you want to unarchive. Select the three dots on the upper right corner and click on Show on Profile. Your post will then be back on your profile!
Your stories are also automatically saved to the Archive section. To enable this feature, you will have to carry out a few steps:
-Select Settings from the Instagram menu on your profile
-Click on Settings and then Privacy
-Select Story
-Scroll to Saving and toggle on the ‘Save to Archive’ option
Your stories will now be saved in the Archive section!
What are the Benefits of having the Archive Feature?
Even though the Archive feature was released in 2017, it is not a feature that Instagrammers have extensively used. Here are a few ways you can use the Archive feature to your benefit.
Instagram Highlights
Archived stories can be added to Instagram Highlights to showcase your unique stories on your profile. Whether it is a set of highlights from your vacation or your photography portfolio, it is always nice to have them on your profile. Instagram Highlights are a great way to keep the stories on the profile.Â
Memories on Instagram
Instagram keeps track of the dates of your posts. You will find the option to post your memories at the bottom of the Story Archive section. By reposting your memories to your Story, you will be able to engage with your followers effectively. Everybody likes a good throwback!
Repost the Same Picture after Archiving
If your post did not receive the engagement you hoped it would, you could repost the photo/video after taking down the older post. The lifespan of a good post has decreased on the gram, and this feature can be highly beneficial to all creators out there!
Experiment with Different Aesthetics
Aesthetic feeds are the best part of an Instagram profile. You can experiment with different themes and aesthetics with the help of the Archive feature. Take off the pictures that don’t work with your profile mood and curate a feed that you and your followers enjoy!
